Shoal of Haddies show their charitable side

Anster Haddies headed up the coast to Kingsbarns to take part in a charity fun run in aid of the Tushinde Children's Trust.

The charity is a project in Nairobi providing education for children living in slums.

Rosie Knox continued her recent winning streak by finishing as first female overall.

Thomas Knox and Yvonne Dehn were the other placed Haddies, finishing as second male and female.

The other notable finisher was Colin McKie, who claimed a course personal best time.

Over in Edinburgh on Wednesday night, Allen Marr took the MV60 prize in the Self Transcendence 5K in a time of 20 minutes.

Saturday saw parkrunners out in force in the Kingdom as well as down under.

Essex-based Neil Smith ran a stormer to finish first overall at Craigtoun Park in St Andrews in a hugely impressive time of 16:46, followed by Allen Marr in 20:14 and Bill Simpson in 22:40. Jas Baillie finished Kirkcaldy parkrun in 22:00, whilst in the Melbourne suburbs in Australia, Duncan Hall ran 20:22 to finish in second place.

Jazmin Hay and Fiona Cruickshanks took part in the Stirling 10K on Sunday morning, with Jazmin continuing her recent good form with a distance PB of 48:30 and Fiona finishing in a fine 52:39.

The ‘Toughest Haddies of the week’ prize has to be shared by Debz and George Hay who completed the Coast to Coast challenge over last weekend.

Taking in 105 miles over two days, the race consisted of trail running, kayaking and cycling from Cawdor Castle, near Nairn, to Glencoe.

Debz completed the gruelling endurance race in 12hrs 40mins to finish in sixth FV40 place, with George finishing in 13hrs 38mins, 15th MV50 position.

Haddies also met at Anstruther Fish Bar for the presentation of a sponsorship cheque for the East Neuk 10K.

The popular 10K race takes place on September 25 on a country roads and tracks from the Waid Academy.

Anstruther Fish Bar has been regular contributor towards the running costs of the 10K.
