TAYPORT travel to Albyn Park, Broxburn, tomorrow for another crucial fixture in the battle for promotion from the East Premier League.
As things stand, Tayport sit second in the table, behind title favourites Sauchie.
This weekend’s opponents, Broxburn, are one of four teams within a couple of points of the Canniepairt outfit.
Making the situation even more precarious is that Penicuik and Oakley United have one and two games in hand, respectively.
Manager John McGlashan believes that his side remain firmly in the hunt and has been pleased with recent displays.
Tayport’s problem has been in the goalscoring department, but McGlashan has faith in the new strike partnership of Simon Murray and Kevin Milne.
The Canniepairt boss was far from despondent after Saturday’s goalless draw against Glenrothes.
“Overall, there wasn’t much wrong with the performance,” he said.
“We were looking to win the game, so it’s frustrating to have taken only a point, but it wasn’t for the want of trying.
“I can’t fault our endeavour and I thought we shaded the game.
“There were plenty of half-chances and we just needed somebody to nick a goal for us, but it wasn’t to be.”
McGlashan went on: “On the whole, we are not disheartened in any way.
“There have been many positives in the last four matches and I see no reason why we can’t continue that level of performance until the end of the season and I feel sure that the goals will certainly come.”
Kick-off tomorrow is scheduled for 2.30pm.
