Trail runners head to town's parkrun

Falkland Trail Runners were out in force at the St Andrews parkrun on Saturday morning.

Brian Cruikshank who finished in third place and first over-50 led home a big field of 25 Skwerlz many recording PBs for the 5k Craigtoun Park course.

Selected FTR results were - 3 Brian Cruikshank 17.52, 11 Colin Smith 19.22, 13 Mike Murdoch 19.39PB, 21 Derek McDonald 20.27 PB, 37 & 5F Alison Sutherland 21.34, 48 Kenny Ritchie 21.56, 49 Alex Jarrett 21.56, 57 Keith Bonthrone 22.19, 66 Jeff Taylor 22.45, 78 Paul Sutherland 23.13.

Club president Tony Martin competed in the Camperdown parkrun in Dundee where he finished 4th overall and 1st over-40 in 19m 47s.

All the more remarkable considering his actual age category is 65-69, Tony’s time was a new course record for that age group.

The club was also represented at the Kirkcaldy parkrun in the Beveridge Park, results were, 42 & 4F Lyndsay MacKay 23.54, 43 Leonard Zabek 23.57, 61 & 9F Jane Gatherer 25.17 PB, 76 & 33F Lynne Zabek 27.13, 101 & 33F Annie Gibson 29.48, 113 & 41F Carol Sidey 31.48.

Andy Harley made a debut run in the Tooting Common parkrun in London.

In a big field of 502 runners Andy finished 56th in 21m 10s.

Just over 300 runners enjoyed perfect conditions for the annual Perth Road Runners Tay 10 race which starts and finishes in the George Duncan Arena in North Muirton.

The Falkland club were well represented with 10 members in action.

Bryan Innes in 14th place was the first Skwerl home in 65 minutes 45 seconds.
