Trail runners muscle in on the medals across the country

Susanne Lumsden, Carole Mowbray & Susan Harley who picked up podium prizes at the Braemar Half Marathon

The best results from the club came by way of the Braemar Half Marathon with the trio of ‘Skwerl Gerlzs’ who secured podium finishes.

Falkland resident Carole Mowbray took first Supervet FV50 prize with St Andrews member Susanne Lumsden third FV40 and Langtonian Susan Harley fourth FV40.

The Total Warrior 12k Obstacle race near Edinburgh had four members representing the club. Rod Cooke led the quartet home in 2 hrs 23 mins, followed by Lynne Smith 2.57.08, Annie Gibson 2.57.09 and Linda Barton 2.57.10.

At the televised Great North Run, Malcolm MacTavish finished well within his anticipated time finishing in 2 hrs 03 secs.

Kenny Ritchie knocked an amaxing nine minutes from his previous best over the point to point course finishing in 2 hrs 18 mins and also raised just over £1000 for teenage Cancer Trust.

Ross Moreland competed in the Yorkshire Man Trail Marathon and finished 24th overall in 4hrs 24mins25 secs.

Sunday’s Stirling10k saw two club members line up alongside the other 811 starters with Mark Western finishing 229th in 40 mins 33 secs and Craig Milligan 262nd in 41.24.

In midweek, the second annual ‘Stuart Duncan Memorial’ 5k race just over one hundred runners started at the Lomond Centre, Glenrothes and headed along Boblingen Way for 2.5 kilometres then turned around to finish at the back of the centre.

FTR’s only competitor was club secretary Jim Close who finished 45th in 24 mins 41 secs.

The Kingsbarns four mile annual charity race saw 49 runners head off along the road to the beach and the trails at Cambo Estate, finishing back at the village.

Fife AC’s Junior Internationalist Logan Rees was first to finish in 21 mins 38 secs.

The Skwerlz secured three prizes in the various age categories with Brian Cruickshank finishing fourth and first MV50 in 24.02.

Club president Tony Martin was 13th and first MV60 in 26.55 with Susanne Lumsden 27th and first FV40 in 31.37.

Fiona Kemp was the clubs other finisher crossing the line in 43rd place in 36.38.

At the local parkrun’s Tom Ashton finished second at the St Andrews 5k event at Craigtoun Park with a time of 17 mins 00 secs.

Brian Cruickshank, Glenrothes was sixth overall and first MV50 in 18.15 and Tony Martin 18th and first MV60 in 20.05.

The Kirkcaldy parkrun in Beveridge Park 5k saw Alison Sutherland finish first female in 15th place overall in 21mins 14 secs.

Her father, Paul who has been working hard to gain fitness was in 43rd place, 23.11.
