Unique attractions promised at Highfield at Howe this summer

There are two unique events coming up soon at Highfield at Howe as the local centre's reputation for hosting top class shows develops.

On July 3, there will be a showing show with a difference at the venue.

Entitled the Show of Colours, this event is for horses and ponies of all colours with each type of equine, being judged in a ring with others of the same coat colour.

It’s once again expected to attract countless entrants.

The second unique event is the first horse and horsebox/ trailer sale to be held at the Centre on Saturday, July 23.

There will be the opportunity to see horses and ponies up for sale locally, ride them in a safe enclosed space and deal directly with the seller.

Potential sellers can contact Highfield at Howe to have their entries advertised.

Highfield at Howe held another of their very popular dressage days on Sunday 22 May 2016.

Following the usual schedule , the day began with an intro test ( walk and trot only ) and the winner of this class was Grace Hughes riding Donna with Hannah Cordiner and Paintball Magic only a few marks behind to take second place. .

Class 2 ( Prelim 4 ) was the largest class of the day with 15 combinations coming forward to compete.

Scoring 70.7 per cent Alicia Hay and Elliot III claimed the red rosette with Glenrothes- based Georgina Haywood and Loner in second.

The second prelim class ( P18 ) saw a win from Larisa Cathro riding Ziggy with the highest score of the day , with Hannah Cordiner and Paintball Magic claiming their second runner up spot of the day.

Class 4 ( Novice 27 ) saw the closest result of the day with Joanne McPherson and Astra claiming the win over Brooke Scott Gray and Missouri by 0.5 marks.

Joanne and Astra went on to claim second place in the Novice 28 class after Zoe Penman and Amelia IX posted a great score of 69.2 per cent .

Helen Brown and her ginger mare Phoebe had a very successful day claiming first place in both elementary classes.

Phoebe is a 13 year old ID x TB that Helen bought 10 years ago. This combination train with Kay Gebbie and have been placed at BD Regional, Petplan and Scottish Championships. They hope to compete at medium level later this year.

All riders will be competingat a venue which boasts a main indoor arena of 65m x 30m and has a top of the range Cushion Track™ surface from Equestrian Surfaces.
