The Fife Flyers’ defenceman saw Steelers from close quarters last weekend, when he played against them with his new club Fife Flyers.

He told The Star: “They are a pretty solid team all round, they have always had good depth with four lines, which proved to be a positive, had a little more jump than we did.

“I think they’ve got a quality team and I am sure they will be the frontrunners in the League again.

‘‘Hopefully in the coming months we will be nipping at their heels for the championship. “

Moyer said it was nice for the club to allow him to witness last Saturday’s banner-raising. “It was a classy move, I appreciated that.”

After the banner wearing, though, he was “wearing white and blue, not orange.

“I am proud to be a Fife Flyer. I am happy for my time in Sheffield obviously but that was last year and this is this year.

‘‘It is definitely a year I will always look back on and enjoy, and the accomplishment with the 20 guys we had in the room.”
