Zoey enjoys her podium places at the double

Falkland Trail Runner Zoey Johnston enjoyed two podium finishes last week to wrap up an outstanding few days for the athlete.

Making debuts at both events, Zoey secured first female veteran 40 at the midweek Dumyat Hill Race in Stirling and then finished runner up in the FV 40 category at the Loch Leven Half Marathon a few days later.

She competed over the eight kilometre hill race covering the 380 metre ascent in a time of 50 mins and three secs, to finish 158th overall from a field of 346 entrants.

Bill Duff finished in a time of 1.10.11 and Karen Spence in 1.28.01.

Zoey continued her fine form at Kinross when she competed the 13.1 mile course around Loch Leven to finish an excellent 47th overall from 650 starters and take second female over 40 prize.

Peter Rieu-Clarke took the runner up prize in the over 70 category covering the course in 2:12.10.

Seventeen other runners from Falkland Trail Runners took part in the event, many of whom were participating in their first ever long distance endurance event and coping well.

Sunday saw four of the club’s Skwerlz competing at the Monikie Country Park 5k/10 k event.

Club Treasurer, Maureen Close took part in the 5k one loop of the two reservoirs setting a PB finishing in 45 mins.

In the 10k event, Alan Corsbie was first Skwerl home in 45.03 followed by Jim Close, 51.37 and Karen Campbell 1.02.06.

The cancellation of Craigtoun parkrun on Saturday saw an increase of participants at the Kirkcaldy parkrun at Beveridge Park with 148 runners competing over the two lap course.

Christie Ford and Alison Sutherland made it a Falkland 1 - 2 in the female category with Christie recording a PB in 21 mins 13 secs which also placed her 18th overall with Alison 21st in 21.23.

Brian Cruickshank finished fourth overall and first over-50.
