A talk about some fine paintings

It forms part of an ongoing programme of short talks on a variety of topics and offers offers visitors the opportunity to take a closer look at some of the paintings currently on display in the Fife Works exhibition and find out how and why they were chosen.

All the paintings have a key connection - Fife itself!

Not only do they depict the Kingdom in all its glory, but they were all painted by artists who were either born, lived or spent some time working in the Fife landscape.

Fife Works features notable works of the past 150 years by some of Scotland’s most celebrated and influential artists, including John Henry Lorimer and Scottish Colourist George Leslie Hunter. There are also works by well-known local artists Tom Gourdie and Brian Fojcik, as well as a painting by the very first curator of Kirkcaldy Art Gallery, Thomas Corsan Morton, one of the Glasgow Boys group of artists.

You can also see some more recent additions to the collections on display, including work by artists David Cook and Stewart Marshall Lees.

The talk begins at 1.30pm and will last approximately 20 minutes.

Admission to the gallery and the talk is free and no booking is required.
