Alhambra summer school for talented young Fifers

The Alhambra Theatre Summer School takes centre stage again this summer.

It runs from July 18-30 and is aimed at youngsters aged 8 -18 to learn key stage skills in singing, drama and dancing.

It’s a two-week course led by theatre industry professionals, culminating in a performances on the Alhambra stage on July 30.

The Summer School is open to all experience levels, with no auditions required.

Launched in 2012, it has gone from strength to strength with hundreds of local children from across Fife and beyond, taking part over, with participants hugely enjoying the experience.

The course offers skills in aspects of musical theatre and over the past few years’ participants have showcased skills to audiences, including excerpts from some of the world’s biggest musicals such as Annie, Mary Poppins, Evita, and Wicked amongst many others.

Lindsay Wrapson, spokesman for the Alhambra Theatre said: ‘The Alhambra Theatre Trust strongly encourages youth development within the arts industry, believing strongly in the value of young people gaining experience in the performing arts sector.

‘‘The course aims to give participants a chance to showcase these skills at the end of the course in a brand new production created with the input of the participants and the Summer School production team. The experience is unique, giving the children the chance to perform on the Alhambra stage at the end of the two week course.’
