All at sea with new helicopter

Anstruther Lifeboat crew took part in an exercise last weekend with the Coastguard Helicopter 999 from Prestwick for the first time. The aircraft landed in Pittenweem and the crew boarded for a tour and briefing on the winching processes, casualty handling and boat positioning. It then took to the water to put the theory into practice. A spokesman for the Anstruther station said exercises were held about twice a year but it was the first time the new helicopter had been available and was invaluable in helping the crew to extend its knowledge and capabilities for saving lives at sea.
