Democracy has been described as a combination of the fascination of a John Le Carre thriller and the dynamism of The West Wing or House of Cards.

It is directed by Michael Emans, Artistic Director of Rapture Theatre who said: “I am thrilled that this great play will be enjoyed by audiences across Scotland. The resurgence in the appreciation of John Le Carre’s work and the post Brexit climate of political upheaval, infighting and betrayal make this play highly prescient.

A familiar face on TV in River City, Shetland and Taggart Stewart also treads the boards in leading roles at the Citizens and Tron in Glasgow. His big screen credits include a role in the Danish drama Valhalla Rising.

See Stewart in Democracy at The Byre Theatre on 17 September, 7.30pm, tickets available at byretheatre.com, and Adam Smith, Kirkcaldy on 21 September, 7.30pm, with tickets from onfife.com.
