Craigtoun Park full of Easter fun

An Easter weekend of sunshine and showers didn't stop visitors to Craigtoun Park making the most of the weekend.

Around 3500 visitors visited the park on Easter Sunday alone for the first weekend of the year when all the attractions were open.

The attractions are operated by the Friends of Craigtoun Park, who have now also taken over the cafe, and they were delighted to see so many happy, smiling faces in the park.

“All families were having a great time,” , Bill Sangster from the Friends reported, “including the old favourite of rolling your Easter eggs.”

For the first time this year the Rio Grande Railway and Puffin Billy were in action, carrying visitors around the park, while the more active enjoyed the boating pond and made good use of the trim trails.The zip line, crazy golf, bouncy castles and putting green were busy and a special falconry show for Easter also proved popular with visitors.

Craigtoun Park is open all year round, used by dog walkers, runners, people out for exercise, children’s groups and families.

Entrance to the park is free, but attractions are charged - but it’s still a bargain, with a family day ticket costing £23, and if you are a regular visitor either staying in the area on holiday or a local resident, a family season ticket costs £75. Individual rides cost £1.50, or pay £13 for a book of 10 tickets.
