So many artists must still be frustrated with so little happening on the live stage and still so much uncertainty.

You may know Kim Shepherd from starring in the Adam Smith pantomime for the last four years to sell out audiences, but for this year OnFife have announced no shows for the whole of 2020 so that must rule out our traditional Christmas matinee or night out of fun, comedy and slapstick.

That intense set up can mean two shows a day for up to seven days a week but builds a bond among the performers and for Kim she loves it combining a love story, jokes on different level, magic and music.

She started her career in amateur musical theatre at 15 before joining the then Adam Smith College musical theatre course successfully enough to land a theatrical agent for her first professional engagement in Panto at the Brunton Theatre Musselburgh.

For multitalented Kim she has had time for her various projects such as being the vocalist each year on the prospective UK Eurovision entry.

Currently featured online In Heaven was written by Jason Blyth and submitted in 2017 as a funky up-tempo beat number and Jason’s Your Lullaby was from this year with vocalist Joe Whiteman assisting but not selected for the final public airing.

Joe and Kim worked together in May 2019 at Carnegie Hall in the Andrew Carnegie musical The Star Spangled Scotchman written by Ian Hammond-Brown. For the last 13 years Kim has fronted function band Cut The Cake.

March to October tends to be the busy wedding season and for this year her band won Best Wedding Band of the Year for Scotland helped by the high production standards they set and of course Kim’s vocals on big numbers like Queen’s Somebody To Love or Defying Gravity from Wicked.

The band were formed in Dunfermline and bookings for next year will explode with rearrangements plus those already booked. Another side project is the duo Mixtape with guitarist Wes Wood primarily for acoustic shows so still plenty to keep Ms Shepherd busy.
