Bright future for Fife horror film
‘The Unkindness of Ravens’ had its first public screening at London’s Frightfest last month and, immediately afterwards Lawrie’s production firm Hex Media was approached with an offer from an international studio distributor, which the company is currently considering.
Lawrie explained: “To receive a buyer offer from a universally known and respected studio-level distributor is an incredible endorsement of the potential for independent horror films which dare to be ambitious and unusual.

The film, which was written by Lawrie’s partner Sarah Daly, explores the inner torment of a homeless ex-serviceman suffering from post traumatic stress disorder after his wartime experiences.
As well as being given a great reception by critics, it has also been commended by veterans and people suffering from the condition for its authentic portrayal.
One veteran who attended the screening praised it as “the most accurate portrayal of war and the emotional devastation of war” that he’d ever seen.

It now looks set for further success as it continues its festival run.
“We’ve been blown away by the response from the fans and critics,” said Lawrie. “The reaction really has been overwhelming. FrightFest is such an amazing launchpad, and thanks to the positive buzz about our film, it now has the best possible chance of getting in front of the widest audience possible.”
