Can you take on the challenge for Fife lifeboat crews?

Kinghorn and Aberdour RNLI Fundraising teams are inviting volunteers to partake in their RNLI Coastal Challenge next month, on Saturday May 7.

The challenge is to walk up to 14 miles, beginning at Leven Coastguard station and finishing at Kinghorn Lifeboat station, or starting at any other three start points for a shorter walk: East Weymyss, Dysart, and Seafield, between 10am and 3pm.

Sheona Smith, Kinghorn fundraising committee chair, said: “There are four stages which mean that supporters of all ages and abilities will be able to participate.

“This will be a great challenge for people to take up, and it will be a good opportunity for people to raise money for the RNLI ahead of the summer season when the volunteer crews are at their busiest.

“We will also have a competition on the day for anyone who wishes to wear fancy dress, and there will be a treasure hunt along the route for younger walkers.

“RNLI volunteers risk everything to save lives at sea, and this is your opportunity to support them by raising money during the annual yellow welly themed Mayday fundraising event.”

The whole route will be along the Fife Coastal Path, with stewards present at each starting point.

The initiative is a new event for 2016 as a means to donate money for the volunteer organisation.
