The Refuge Fife charity, along with its partner charity organisation ReAct, are hosting the even and are appealing for the public to make donations of clothing, toiletries and baby items, as well as tents, blankets, and waterproof items.

“The civil war in Syria has now been going on for almost seven years and in that time, almost five million people have fled the country in terror,” said a spokesman for Refuge Fife.

“With a humanitarian crisis of this scale, trying to help by collecting a few bags of clothes and toiletries might seem like just a tiny drop in the ocean.

“However, every item we deliver helps to make someone’s life a little bit easier, and that’s got to be better than doing nothing at all. “

Donations can be made on Saturday at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Winifred Crescent, Kirkcaldy, between 10am-2pm. Donations may also be dropped at the church door nearest the car park, on Tuesday and Thursdays from 10.30 am.
