Bob Christie organised the event to help raise much needed funds and hoping to draw the crowds in, he has arranged for Bruce Davies, well-known Fife-based singer, songwriter and musician, to entertain the crowd on the night.

Tickets will be priced at just £5, and Bob said all proceeds will go directly to the foodbank.

“I’ve put a lot of time and work into organising this fundraiser, but I think it’s important that all the money goes to the foodbank because the people there are doing a grand job.

“Since the foodbank’s inception three years ago, demand has gone up steadily.”

In comparison to the same period last year, demand at the foodbank has gone up 28 per cent, with over 2300 receiving support between April 2015 and March 2016.

But coupled with that, donations of food to the foodbank have also gone up by 25 per cent.

Bob continued: “The support that people get at the foodbank doesn’t just come in the form of food either – the coordinators and volunteers there will also provide advice, signposting people to places like Citizens Advice and Rights Fife and social services.

“They also help with job searches, and there’s a cafe there every week where people can just meet and chat.

“If you’re in the situation where you need to use the foodbank, that place is like a little oasis.”

Stewart English, foodbank co-ordinator, said: “Donations of food are massively important to the foodbank and without them we certainly could not exist. It really amazes us that the community continues to rally round and support the work which we are doing.”

Cash donations were also vitally important too, Stewart noted, to help in the running of the foodbank, and also to provide the community cafe and primary school workshops.

The fundraiser will take place on Saturday, April 30 at Wellesley Parish Church, Methil from 7pm until 9pm. Tickets will be available on the door on the night, and if you want more information you can contact Bob on 01592 773843.
