The quartet; Colin Currie, Darren Phillips, Alan Ward and Calum Mclaren, will compete in the annual in which plots a five mile route around the town.

Colin says they came up with the plan when deciding how to raise money for the store’s charity.

He said: “It was Darren and I that came up with the idea.

“I was thinking of doing something to raise money for the British Red Cross, which is our chosen charity, and Darren has run the race before so it seemed like it would be a good thing to do.

“I’ve been mostly treadmill training ahead of the race, but I’ve been out road running over the last week. There’s a big difference so I think that the race is going too be tough!”

Colin said they are delighted with the money raised so far.

“The last time I counted we had raised just over £1125 but I wouldn’t be surprised if it was up to £1500 now, so I really want to thank everyone who has donated.

“We’re absolutely delighted, it’s one of the joys of knowing all your regular customers.”

The group hope to run the race together but Colin says that they have different objectives.

“Darren wants to beat his previous time and Calum has set himself a target of 45 minutes. They’re quite competitive. My goal is just to finish it in one piece!

“It’s for a really good cause though and I’m looking forward to it.”

You can sponsor the group by making a donation in the shop or at Colin’s Just Giving page at www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Colin-Currie2.
