The four novice riders – Sam Linton and James Hand from Balwearie High School in Kirkcaldy, and John Wilson and James Stirrat from Levenmouth Academy – cycled 115 miles around the edge of Fife last Saturday, completing the challenge in nine and a half hours to raise money and awareness of the Movember campaign, which aims to tackle testicular cancer.

John said: “We’ve banked £952 so far and there’s another couple of hundred to come.

“We aimed to raise £1000 so we’ve smashed that. We’ve got coffee morning coming up too so we’re delighted with the amount we’ve raised.

“None of us are keen cyclists. We all acquired bikes just for this so it’s been a shock to the system.”

John added: “The cycle was full of highs and lows but nothing compared to the pain and suffering that so many men go through on a daily basis as they deal with cancer or depression.”
