Frightened Rabbit are Fife bound

Over the course of five albums, including their new ‘Painting of a Panic Attack’, the band’s frontman Scott Hutchison has made poetry of his misery – and still somehow managed to make it sound like a triumphant rallying cry.

Painting Of A Panic Attack’, slated to hit stores on April 8, it’s the band’s most cohesive record yet.

It seemlessly blends together electronic elements and Hutchison’s dark and emotionally honest lyrics, resulting in a body of work that is set to challenge, excite and surprise Frightened Rabbit fans old and new.

“We’re really proud of the album and I think that we’ve got a great collection of songs,” said Andy Monaghan, the band’s guitarist and keyboard player.

“I hope the fans like it as much as we do and I can’t wait to see their reaction when we play the tracks live.

“The best way to gauge if the fans like the new stuff or not is by doing gigs, and that brings out the nerves sometimes but it’s a good feeling at the same time.

“For me personally, I’m looking forward to playing ‘Get Out’from the new record, Andy continued.

“ It’s a bit of a sad song, but the melody is quite upbeat which seems to work quite well. It’s a really great song and definitely one of my favourites.”

The band are set to head out on a quick tour next month before heading to the States for a further run of shows to support their new release.

The tour arrives at Dunfermline’s Alhambra on April 13 – the band’s only Scottish date.

For some bands, it’s a case of the bigger the better in terms of venue size, but for Selkirk’s finest, they are more than happy with packing out a smaller place.

“Dunfermline is bang in the middle of Edinburgh and Glasgow so to us, it’s the ideal choice,” Andy said.

“Most bands always head to a big city to play a gig which is great, but it’s nice to also play smaller venues and create an intimate vibe. It’s something that little bit different, too which is also a bonus.

“We’re off to America not long after that which is fantastic, but we do love playing on home soil, as I’m sure many bands would say the same.

“In terms of what fans can expect when they come to see us this time around, well, of course, there will be the new songs, but there will also be some of our previous stuff that will be making an appearance – I don’t think we’ll get away with not playing some songs from our other albums!”

“We love coming to Fife, we really do. The gigs we’ve done there before were really well received and the crowds were fantastic, so we’re really looking forward to coming back.”
