Fringe: The Great British Songbook
Ross Leadbeater’s Great British Songbook
Assembly George Square Studio (Venue 17)
Runs ends: August 21
Ross Leadbeter certainly makes the most of the choices before him, packing a diverse selection into his hour-long show, the Great British Songbook.
It’s USA counterpart may be better known, thanks, ironically to UK singers such as Rod Stewart, but he’s on to something with this idea.

Hide AdRoss, who made his name with the choir, Only Men Aloud, is an engaging entertainer - he delivers a relaxed show, chatting with his audience, encouraging them to sing along and also giving some background to each of the songs, even the ones we know word perfect.
The show would certainly work better in a smaller, more intimate venue - the lecture theatre robs it of some of the intimacy and of simply sitting back enjoying one man and his piano.
The Omnitorium right behind the studio would have been the perfect setting for Ross.
