From Chicago to Kirkcaldy just to see David Tennant

Fans of the actor have flooded the box office with inquiries since news of his live ‘audience with’ event was announced.

Some even made lengthy journeys to ensure they were in the queue when the first batch of tickets went on sale at the box office before being made available online.

And Tennants’ agreement to also appear on stage to introduce the gala screening of his new film, You, Me And Him, has sparked a second wave of demand for tickets at the Adam Smith Theatre.

The separate events take place on Saturday , March 17.

The Q&A, hosted by actor Arabella Weir, was a lightning quick sell-out - and hopes are high that the red carpet film screening will also enjoy a full house.

The box office has logged more than 2500 expressions of interest in the events since they were announced a few weeks ago.

And Tennant is set to be welcomed by a global audience. FAns are travelling from afar as France, Israel, Yokohama in Japan, Broager in Denmark, and several towns in Germany… and Chicago.

On social media, fans have planning meet-ups as they head to Kirkcaldy for the eagerly awaited appearance of the former Dr Who and star of Broadchurch.

Irene Smith from the theatre’s box office said: 







“The response to David Tennant’s appearance at this year’s Adam Smith Global Foundation Festival of Ideas has been phenomenal. Over 2,500 people expressed interest in the event through social media and our phone has been ringing off the hook with enquiries since the announcement was made in December.’’

She added: “It’s good to see so many people from the local community buzzing about the event.

‘’At the same time, we’ve had bookings from Tel Aviv to Yokohama!

‘’David’s live audience sold out in no time at all, but there are still tickets left for the red carpet screening of ‘You, Me and Him’ Roll on March!”

The appearance of David and his wife, Georgie Moffett, who produced the movie, on stage before the film screens is expected to boost numbers further.

Festival organisers have made it a gala occasion, with a red carpet entrance, fizz and strawberries included in the ticket price.

You, Me & Him tells the story of a lesbian couple, played by Lucy Punch and Faye Marsay, who, despite their age difference, are very much in love.

The question of pregnancy rears its head as neighbour John, played by Tennant, befriends them and their lives are never quite the same again.
