Fun in the sun for everyone!

The playpark was filled with happy children and many local groups put on their own stalls to let people know about what they do in the community, including the Kirkcaldy Foodbank and Hosting Hope which puts on free community lunches at Linton Lane.

K107fm, the town’s community radio station, provided non-stop entertainment, there were inflatables, face painting, fairground rides, go karts and beat the goalie courtesy of Templehall United.

The afternoon opened with some gospel singing from The Songburds who meet in the Templehall community centre, and there were dance demonstrations from Stages Dance School, Love to Dance from Cowdenbeath and Skip Exercise, displaying its unique form of exercise.

There was also a boxing demonstration from Hatton Boxing and a display on adult learning classes which are available for people to brush up on their skills or learn new ones.

The local Scouts put on a barbecue, and the smell drew people from miles around, while the vintage fire engine and police car with its siren also proved great attractions.

“It was a brilliant afternoon and it was great that the weather was good as we were able to have lots going on in gazebos outside the centre,” said Lorraine Wilkinson of the Rabbit Braes group.

“We saw people out picnicking all afternoon and well after the gala finished.”

Mandy Henderson, of the Linton Lane Centre added: “Everyone had a great time and there was a fantastic turnout from the local community.

“All the groups involved made some money for their own funds, which was good.”
