Funds for Fife visual arts group

Fife Contemporary has been successful in achieving three-year funding from Creative Scotland.

This will allow it to continue developing projects & exhibitions with our their partners, and also to provide support for craft and visual artists across Fife.

The organisation is unusual in that it works from an office base in St Andrews Town Hall and delivers a programme across Fife with a wide range of partners.

These include StAnza, Scotland’s national poetry festival, and during the 2018 festival Fife Contemporary will host an exhibition of drawings of well-known poets by artist Alan Vest, which have featured until recently in The Guardian’s Saturday Review.

Further afield, Fife Contemporary’s next big project, ‘Nexus’, from April to June, at Fife Cultural Trust’s Kirkcaldy Galleries and is an exhibition of jewellery, silversmithing, textiles and ceramics by 20 artists from the UK and Ireland. One of these is Lynne MacLachlan whose work will be featured in this year’s Craft Pods’ tour of Fife libraries and secondary schools.

Diana Sykes, director of Fife Contemporary said: “We are delighted in this vote of confidence and the ability it gives us to plan ahead and deliver with our partners a high quality craft and visual art programme for Fife.”
