Get your boots on for Fife walking festival

With the success of the last two year’s events, another full and varied programme of walks has been arranged for the third annual festival, with something to suit everyone’s abilities and interests.

The festival will run from Saturday, September 3 to Sunday, September 11 and will include everything from nature walks, highlighting the area’s abundant flora and fauna to historic walks and scenic coastal walks.

The festival has been organised and funded by Craigencalt Rural Environmental Trust with herp from Burntisland and Kinghorn Community Sports Hub, and the organisers have enlisted the support of local walking groups, heritage groups, ramblers and individuals.

Guides will lead the rambles with everything from short distance gentle walks suitable for the less able, to more challenging routes.

There are Nordic Walking trips to the Black Rock at Aberdour, and wildlife ‘walk and sketch’ events as well as walks and storytelling sessions at the Troll Bridge for younger ramblers.

Ron Edwards, chairman of the Trust, said: “The last two years has seen this event grow in popularity due to the range of walks that it offers and the friendly atmosphere that is generated throughout the week.

“We are hoping that this year’s festival will be just as successful as last, and that it is blessed with some good weather which always helps to bring more people out.

“The main aim of the festival is to get people out and about enjoying the beauty on their doorstep.”
