Bob McPhail (54) has organised a meeting in the hope of bringing a Men’s Shed to Kennoway, which would serve as a meeting place and a community hub.

He explained that the Men’s Shed would offer locals the opportunity to come together.

“It’s for retired men, ladies, the unemployed, those who are unable to work – everybody,” he said.

“We could meet maybe once or twice a week at the football pavilion.

“We could make things, do things in the community, learn new skills.

“It’s just to get people off their chairs.

“We could be meeting up for chats, sharing old photos and putting the world to rights.”

Despite the name, the shed would be for anyone to use.

There are Men’s Sheds across the UK and even an association for their registration and promotion.

Bob invited local residents to come along to the meeting to discuss the possible creation of a Men’s Shed for Kennoway.

He said: “What are you doing in the morning? Are you sitting about doing nothing?

“Could you do something in the community, be part of something, change something?”

A meeting will take place at the Cotlands Park changing facilities on next Tuesday at 10am.
