Lammas Market returns with fair and stalls in tow

Coming towards the end of the school holiday the week-long market includes a funfair, continental market as well as traders’ stalls.

All the old favourites will be there to delight the youngsters, with traditional dodgems, roundabouts and a variety of thrilling rides for the more daring.

Youngsters of all ages can be sure of finding something new to please the mover the next week.

The continental market will, appropriately be based in Market Street with a range of stalls featuring food and crafts.

Running until August 9 the market is open daily from 11am-11pm.

Keith Jackson, Fife Council Parks and Community Officer said: “The much anticipated Lammas Market returns to St Andrews. “There are fun fair rides, market stalls, food and drink and a continental market to attract visitors.

“We work closely with the St Andrews Merchants Association and despite the road closures, the shops and businesses will be open as normal.”

Profits from the event go directly to the St Andrews Common Good Fund where any organisation or individual may apply for funds to support projects that will benefit the people of St Andrews. Recently, funds have been given to St Andrews Harbour Trust’s pontoon project, St Andrews in Bloom, St Andrews Community Council Senior Citizens’ Treat, Happy Days Children Charity and the restoration of the Whyte Melville fountain.

To allow the market to take place streets will be affected by road closures until August 10 – Market Street; Church Street; South Street; Bell Street and Queens Gardens.
