LEVEN’S town centre is looking forward to a glow of festive cheer this weekend.

Saturday afternoon sees the customary switching on of the Christmas lights, bathing the High Street and surrounding throughfares in a multi-shaded hue as the festive season countdown begins.

The honour of throwing the switch, as ever, goes to the town’s Rose Queen, with Briony Brown performing the duties this year.

The switch-on is due at 4.30pm, preceded by a procession up to the High Street stage from the Shorehead, featuring Briony and her attendands, Kennoway Pipe Band and the Mary Bradford Singers.

Saturday’s celebrations have been organised by Leven’s Environment Group, Business Association and Civic Week Committee, with Fife Council.
