THE Regent Cinema is gearing up for its annual live music festival, which this year will be held on a Saturday for the first time.
Previously having always been on a Sunday, this year’s ‘Rock the Regent’ will see 10 bands perform a day earlier, on June 1, from noon until midnight.
Julie Herd, one of the organisers, said she hoped it would be the best yet.
“The cinema has been going through a bit of a hard time recently and really needs the funds and the backing of the community,” she said.
“It’s a community event and gives everyone something to look forward to, but not only does it help The Regent, it also brings exposure to the bands who are local talents.
“June 1 is also a great day to have it, as psychologically it’s the start of the summer and the gig season, and, being a Saturday, people tend to be free to do what they want.”
Confirmed bands include Root System, Sauza Kings, Beatnic Prestige, Burn The Maps, Magic Voodoo Lounge, So4, The Project, Hidden Virtue, Frail & Curran and Hijinx & the Bad Stars.
There will be a bar at the event which will be provided by Flood Inns, as will security.
Tickets are £8 when pre-bought, or £10 at the door on the day and are available now from The Regent or Julies at 5 Old Inn Wynd, Leven, and also from bands appearing at the event.
