Picture special: East meets West in KAOS production of '˜The King and I'
‘The King and I’ runs at the Bennochy Road venue until Saturday. Set in 1860s Bangkok, this is the moving story of Anna, a British governess, who tries to help an eastern King to come to terms with the modern world.
However he finds himself unable to resist the forces of ancient customs.

Hide AdWhile both keeping a firm grip on their respective traditions and values, Anna and the King teach each other about understanding, respect and love the can transcend the greatest of differences.
The conflict between Eastern and Western cultures inspired this well-loved Rodgers and Hammerstein musical which has become a firm favourite with the public.
Audiences can enjoy a well-known score which includes ‘I Whistle A Happy Tune’, ‘Hello Young Lovers’, ‘Getting To Know You’, ‘Something Wonderful’ and ‘Shall We Dance?’.
This latest production from KAOS is directed by Alan C. Jones with Tom Wright as the musical director.
And as well as the adult cast, KAOS once again has brought in a group of talented young people to play the King’s children in the production.
