Reach for the Sky to net Kamara for Raith Rovers show

The former player and manager turned pundit and TV presenter will take to the stage at the sold-out event at the Adam Smith Theatre on November 6.

‘Kammy’, who also presents ITV’s hit show Ninja Warrior, follows on from other members of the Sky Sports team who have guested at the event, including last year’s guest speakers, Phil Thompson and Paul Merson.

After a successful career as a player with clubs including Portsmouth, Swindon and Leeds, Chris then had spells in the dugout at Bradford and Stoke before becoming a pundit and well-known TV personality.

A clip of him missing a sending off during a match on Sky Sports became a huge viral hit worldwide.

Willie MacGregor, a member of the organising committee along with Allan Crow, Alistair Cameron and John Greer said he was delighted that Chris had agreed to appear.

“We’ve got a good connection with the Sky Sports team, in particular Charlie Nicholas.

“He’s been great in helping us out with getting other guests.

“He took part himself a couple of years ago and he’s kept in touch since.

“The funnier guests are usually the ones that we get the best feedback from and in that regard Chris Kamara is probably one of the best that we could get, so I think he’ll be really good.

“It was a real coup to get him and it’s been great to get someone lined up so early because it takes a bit of the pressure off.”

Willie said that they are now working hard to secure another VIP speaker.

“We’ve got a couple in mind that we are working on,” he said, “So we just need to wait and see, but it will be another exciting name.

“Things are moving along with the show itself. It obviously goes along familiar lines but we’re trying to make it a bit different, you don’t want to have just the same thing each time.

“We got Raith TV involved last year and I think that made a big difference.

“The show is getting a bit slicker every year.”
