Scouts aim to raise a bucket load of cash for WaterAid

The group, who belong to the 10th Fife 1st Cupar group, meet on Thursday evenings and this week they will be competing in their Patrols to see who can carry the most water safely from one end of the town’s Wetlands playing fields to another.

The aim is to raise money for WaterAid, a charity the youngsters want to support as part of their project on ‘water’.

A spokesman for the pack explained: “We want to raise awareness of the fact that many millions of people, mostly women and children, spend over 200 hours a day just getting drinking water. In Africa alone 40 billion hours each year are spent walking to get water. We want WaterAid to keep helping more people get clean drinking water so they can be healthy, have proper toilets and children can spend their time going to school instead of walking miles every day.
