Tablers are '˜in' to support Autism Rocks

Autism Rocks (Fife) did some business and enjoyed a gallant night with the Round Table, as it secured more community support to help local families.

The Buckhaven-based group is dedicated to assisting local families affected by autism and was invited last week to attend a ‘Dragons’ Den’ evening, supported by Dunfermline Round Table.

Each year, it holds a beer festival, with Dunfermline Rugby Club, and the proceeds are donated to local charities. Five groups were short-listed this year and invited to enter the ‘Den’.

“Out of the five, we managed to secure the largest contribution of £1800, which will help us buy mobile sensory equipment and enable us to take our services to the west of Fife and beyond,” said Autsim Rocks branch chairman and co-founder Liza Quin. “A massive thank-you to all at Dunfermline Round Table, and the Dragons, who believed in what we are trying to achieve.”

Fundraising this Friday, with a family prize bingo night at Stenton Jubilee Centre in Glenrothes, from 6pm, suitable for the whole family.

On April 9, Fife’s Up and Coming is staging a two-part family event, firstly from noon till 4pm at Buckhaven Community Education Centre, featuring stalls and inflatables for all ages, with unlimited play wristbands available. Then, from 7pm till midnight, at the same venue, there’s a night of music from Fife artists, including Shannon McAllister, Lost In Vancouver, Cody Feechan and Open Minded Skeptics.

The following day, Buckhaven Bowling Cub is hosting a fundraiser from 2pm onwards.
