The event takes place on May 28 at the Lomond Centre, Glenrothes. Registration opens at 6.30pm and the walk starts at 7.30pm.

What started out as a walk with family and friends has seen almost 3000 walkers raising over £100,000 in the last 10 years – an amazing achievement by everyone who has taken part.

Doreen Gray, organiser, said: “I can’t believe that something my family and I started 10 years ago, hoping to get maybe 50 walkers and raise a few hundred pounds, has grown so much. I am so grateful to everyone who has joined in the Twilight Walk and a massive thanks for all the support from the local community year after year.”

Registration for this milestone year is £10 for adults and £5 for children. For this participants receive a goody bag, entertainment, surprises along the way and a commemorative 10th birthday medal.

Alison Harrow, centre head, said: “I am overwhelmed by the success of the Twilight Walk and what it has achieved. The walk has made such a positive impact to Maggie’s ensuring a regular donation to fund the centre each year. With the funds received in 2015 the team at Maggie’s Fife was able to support over 8000 visits, providing a place to come when people are facing the enormity of a cancer diagnosis.

“I know there will be a fantastic atmosphere to celebrate the walk’s 10th birthday. It is also Maggie’s Fife’s 10th birthday this year on November 3, so it’s brilliant to celebrate two milestones in the same year.”
