Bubba, a Japanese Chin, has been selected to represent his breed in the event, which will see all 216 Kennel Club recognised dog breeds completing five-mile sections of the walk, and raising at least £150 each.

The seven-day walk across the UK started in Cambridge on Monday and is due to finish on Sunday at the Darlington Dog Show at Ripon racecourse on Sunday.

The Scottish leg of the walk is tomorrow (Saturday) along the Union Canal from Edinburgh and finishing at the Falkirk Wheel.

Leanne said; “It is a great honour to have been selected to as the breed representative for this very special event.

“This is a super opportunity to raise money for the seven very worthy charities at the same time raising awareness of well bred pedigree dogs.”

She described the Japanese Chins as: “a delightful breed, bursting with personality.

“They are a brilliant family dog who will happily sit with you on the sofa or join you for a good walk.

“Bubba has been very successful in the showing, he loves strutting his stuff
but is just as comfortable tearing around getting muddy.”

Already this year Bubba has won his class at Crufts and also won best of breed at the Welsh Kennel Club.

Leanne added: “By raising awareness of pedigree dogs I hope we can help educate puppy buyers into researching their desired breed
and buying from reputable breeders who health test and breed from dogs with sound temperaments.”

Held under the umbrella of The Peek-A-Boo Trust, the event aims to raise £70,000 for seven children’s and canine charities – Search & Rescue Dog Association (Scottish Division), Make A Wish Foundation, Belfast Childrens Hosptial, Dog AID, The Cinnamon Trust, PACT Sheffield and Ty Hafan.
