Jim Leishman looks back on a remarkable life

The former Dunfermline Athletic manager who swapped the pitch for politics to become one of the most popular civic ambassadors this Kingdom has ever had, looks back in a talk entitled ‘From Ball To Chain.’

It takes place at Dunfermline Carnegie Library – a venue he formally opened last September – on Sunday, March 18 at 2.00 pm

Jim will talk about his career in football where he became a Pars legend as a player and manager, and went on to manage a number of other teams before returning to his Fife roots to help save the club.

He will also talk about his move into politics which followed an approach from Gordon Brown, former Prime Minister.

Jim said: “It gives me great pleasure to deliver this career-spanning Sunday Seminar on home turf, recapping some of the glory days and tribulations I’ve faced as a sportsman, a football manager and a politician over the decades.

‘‘This town holds so many memories, it’s hard to know where to start, but there will be stories!”

This month, Dunfermline Athletic Heritage Trust will also begin its new project of searching the local historical papers for Pars’ match reports to add to their website, alongside statistical information, the results of which will be available on www.daht.org.uk.
