Special concert to mark anniversary of Kirkcaldy church

Another event is being held next month to mark the 775th anniversary of the Old Kirk.

Come and Sing “From Sea to Sky” is open to all locals to take part.

Alistair Digges will direct the musical piece “From Sea to Sky” specially composed by the late Fife composer, Bruce Fraser, for Kirkcaldy Old Kirk Trust. Kirkcaldy Orchestral Society, and musicians will also contribute.

The Come and Sing choir will be performing music by Macmillan and Ken Johnston to complement the four movements of Bruce’s piece, aptly called The Kirk Sessions.

The dates for “Come and Sing” are March 11 from 7pm -9.30pm culminating on March 15 from 10am-5pm with a public concert at 7.30pm. The cost to take part is £5 to help with music and heating costs.

A soup lunch will be provided on Sunday for a donation.

Tickets for the concert by the Come and Sing choir on Sunday, March March are available also from members of the Old Kirk Trust at adults £12, concessions £10 and children £5.

However if you book before March 1, you will receive an Early Bird discount with adults £10, concessions £8 and children £4.

Ticket money will go to Kirkcaldy Old Kirk Tower Restoration Fund, to facilitate the £500,000 project for necessary repairs and restoration work on Kirkcaldy’s oldest building in continuous use.
