A NEW live music event is set to take the stage in Leven this month.
The first ever Flood Inns Live gig will see The Stone Roses tribute band The Complete Stone Roses play at the Regent cinema on September 22.
The gig is being run by the Flood Inns bar and restaurant group, and its owner Lee Murray says he hopes music fans turn out in their numbers, promising more gigs if they do.
Mr Murray continued: “We need this one to go well and get up and running to attract even bigger names.
“We’ve been on the phone to the likes of Ocean Colour Scene and Shed Seven but they want to wait to see if we become established.
“If we can get one lined up every month that’s what we would ideally like to do.
“We need to do this one as a test to show we can fill it to be able to attract more bands.”
It’s not just good news for music fans however.
Previously the Mail revealed how Mr Murray had come to an arrangement with Leven Community Cinema, operators of the Regent, which will see them given a fee for each gig. That fee is said to be £1000 a show, so works out at roughly one month’s rent for the Regent meaning if there was one a month the cinema would effectively have no rent to pay.
Mr Murray added others will also benefit with local bands to be given a chance to perform either in their own right or as support acts.
Two local support acts have been lined up for The Complete Stone Roses gig, where there will be a fully licensed bar, but they have yet to be revealed.
He continued: “If there is 500 people at the Regent other businesses in the town such as taxis, pubs, busses and food outlets will all get a benefit.”
A competition to win tickets is currently being run in the East Fife Mail where five tickets are up for grabs.
· Tickets for the gig, priced £12.50, are available from Mcphail’s, North Street, Leven and the box office at the Regent, Commercial Road, Leven. Over 18s only.
