Window on Fife's past all set to come to life at museum

Scottish tourism body VisitScotland encouraged curators at the Ceres museum to develop some of the exhibits.

Margaret McSeveney, chairman of the museum trust said: “It was recommended to us that we create exhibits that are more interactive particularly for children but also for adults.

“And I completely agree! We have always had a quiz that children can take part in but it got us thinking about what else we could do.”

Taking up VisitScotland’s recommendations the folk museum now allows visitors to dress up in Victorian style clothes and sit at old fashioned schools desks. And a traditional blackboard adds to the effect.

Adults can also get involved with a new photograph game in which old images need to be matched to the current ones.

“We have already had feedback from children and parents and they are very much in favour of the new hands-on activities,” added Margaret.

Adding to the improvements is the addition of beautiful, inspiring, and unique works of art, made by the Woolly Tree Gang – a local group who create community art using fabric and wool.
