An 80s quiz night and disco will be held at Howe of Fife RC in Duffus Park on March 20, raising funds for the facility at the Adamson Hospital Tarvit Ward.

The aim is to turn half of one of the day rooms into a living room with couches, TV, reading area and fireplace, and the other half into a cafe-style dining area.

The fundraising team at the hospital have been given endowment approval for new furniture, but are looking to raise more money for the rest of the redevelopment.

The unit, which has 23 beds, currently looks after some patients who have dementia or other cognitive issues.

“For these patients it is important that their journey here is a good one,” said Lynne Lessels, charge nurse. “Sometimes we’ve had patients who have been here for over a year, and we want to make it a better experience for them.”

Cupar Museum will be providing old photographs which will be put up around the unit, allowing patients to reminisce about the area,

Lynne praised companies in the area for their “amazing generosity” in providing items for a raffle on the night, and also the efforts of staff nurse Laura Hunter, who has helped organise the event.

“It’s a massive undertaking organising an event like this,” Lynne said.
