Cash boost for emergency reaction group after party in Fife castle
Through local efforts and the generosity of those who attended the total sum of £390.00 was raised. This money will be used to buy emergency equipment for ENCEPT.
The East Neuk Community Emergency Plan was launched on the July 20, 2019, and its aim is to help the communities and individuals of the area to prepare for, respond to and recover from emergencies in a way that complements the work of the local emergency services.

Hide AdA spokesman for the group said: “Emergencies happen, and can include severe weather, floods, fires and major transport accidents.
“Preparing your community and your family for these types of events will make it easier to recover following the impact of an emergency.
“Being aware of the risks that you as a community or family may encounter, and who within your community might be able to assist, could make your community better prepared to cope with an emergency.
“Historically, the East Neuk has had few incidents which have caused major concerns.”

Hide AdIn March 2018, however, East Neuk communities were cut off for days due to heavy snow fall. Emergency services such as ambulances, were unable to get through and even snow ploughs became stranded.
Local volunteers responded to the emergency on an ad-hoc basis as other support services are centralised in Kirkaldy and Glenrothes. Local farmers used diggers and ploughs to open the roads and RNLI Crews delivered medicines in addition to other public-spirited acts by locals.”
It should be noted that the East Neuk Emergency Plan is not there to reduce or replace a response from any of the emergency services or that of the local authority but is designed to complement and support the overall response by all parties.
