Strong Dons are blown away by Fifers

East Fife Ladies made their first trip north this season to take on a very strong Aberdeen side.

With Liz Anderson back from national coaching duty, the Fifers were almost at full strength for this tie.

Skivington had a few half chances before the Fifers went ahead from a corner.

A Graham corner was knocked on by Fraser and Anderson headed home at the back post.

Ten minutes later Fife went two ahead through Skivington after great link up play between her and Nicholson set Skivington through.

She lifted the ball back over the defender’s head and volleyed home high in to the net with her right foot.

Losing Clark through injury just before half time saw the introduction of Tennant to the Fife midfield and she made her presence known, playing some nice link up play through midfield and releasing Fraser higher up the pitch.

It was through very good pressing that Fife got their third goal, with Skivington and Fraser pressing, and the ball falling to Skivington inside the box for her to guide a right footed effort home.

Aberdeen mustered up two chances with a left footed shot going narrowly wide, and a mix up in the Fife defence, being cleared by Anderson.

East Fife face Cumbernauld Colts in the League Cup at King George next Sunday, 3.30pm KO.

Boss Anderson said: “After getting the first goal, somewhat against the run of play, we settled in to the game and controlled it from there.

“The game today was a good test for the girls, and one that I am glad the rose to.

“I am pleased at how the team is gelling.”
