Fife company takes over Co-Op stores

Its branch in Ralston Drive in Dunnikier Estate, Kirkcaldy, has been bought by Fife based convenience store operator, Eros Retail.

Its last day of trading under the Co-Op banner is on Saturday, with the doors re-opening on Tuesday as Greens of Dunnikier.

The company has also acquired the Co-Op’s branch at Main Street, Crossford.

As part of the transition, significant investment and upgrades will be made to the Lang Toun store over the coming weeks.

Greens - Grocer Gold Independent Retail Chain of the Year 2018 - is also refurbishing the existing Loco store in St Clair Street, Kirkcaldy.

Harris Aslam, director at Eros Retail, said “We are thrilled to be opening three new Greens stores in our heartland of Fife, and look forward to working very closely with store teams, customers and local suppliers to retain the strong performing elements of the existing stores whilst introducing lots of exciting new products and concessions.”

It will be remaining open throughout the works and will retain all existing offerings, such as the in-store Cupar based Fisher & Donaldson bakery concession and Costa Express.

Greens of Kirkcaldy will feature an enhanced fresh food selection, and food to go offerings, including Subway which will launch in-store in the new year.

Danielle Lindsay, Store Manager at Greens of Kirkcaldy said “The ongoing store refurbishment is now well underway and customer feedback is already overwhelmingly positive.

“As the new flagship store for Greens, we’re really excited to be staging in lots of innovation and new concepts.”

At Greens of Kirkcaldy, the store team will transfer to the new owners.

The Post Office will remain in-store and Co-Op food products will continue to be stocked.

Fisher & Donaldson’s facility will also be added.
