A former village Post Office is to become a new home.

The change of use has been approved by Fife Council.

The Post Office at 9 Westerlea Links Place in Elie closed in 2008.

A downturn in usage and the growing impact of absentee second home owners saw its doors shut permanently over a decade ago.

Its remote location from the High Street - the village’s main commercial centre - was also a barrier to finding a new tenant.

The building has always formed part of the residential development making it impossible to sub let.

A planning application to change its use from business to residential was approved last week,
