Crail Fest grows from coronation celebration to community mini festival

In just a short time, the dedicated team behind Crail Community Events has transformed a modest gathering into Crail Fest — a vibrant mini-festival packed with live music, family entertainment, and community spirit.

The very first event organised by the group was created to bring residents together during the national celebrations surrounding the Coronation. With music, community stalls and local involvement at its heart, the event proved an immediate success. Encouraged by the response from locals and visitors alike, the volunteers behind Crail Community Events set their sights higher, determined to create something that could become a lasting fixture in the town’s calendar.

Now, that ambition has evolved into Crail Fest, a two day festival celebrating local talent, creativity and community life.

This year’s event promises something for everyone. Live music will take centre stage, with headline act QFX leading a line-up of performers throughout the festival, showcasing a mix of local musicians and crowd-pleasing entertainment.

The organisers are also proud to have the support of headline sponsor JB Penman’s, a much-loved local business that is celebrating an incredible 100 years in business. Their support has helped make this year’s expanded festival possible and highlights the strong connection between local businesses and community events in Crail.

Beyond the stage, the festival will be buzzing with activity. A colourful Hawaiian fancy dress parade will weave through the festivities, inviting families, friends and visitors to don their brightest outfits and join in the fun. Around the festival grounds, market and craft stalls will showcase local makers, traders and artisans, offering everything from handmade goods to delicious food and treats.

Families are a major focus of the event, and organisers have ensured younger visitors are well catered for with a lively Kids Fun Zone, packed with activities designed to keep children entertained while parents soak up the festival atmosphere.

For the volunteers behind Crail Community Events, the festival represents far more than a few days of entertainment. The group works year-round raising funds through events like Crail Fest with a clear goal: to give back to the community that supports them. Proceeds from their events help fund local initiatives and projects, ensuring that the benefits are felt throughout the town.

The journey has not always been straightforward. Like many volunteer-led community groups, the organisers have faced challenges along the way. However, rather than allowing these obstacles to halt progress, the Crail Community Events team have continued to focus on what matters most — bringing people together and supporting the local community.

Through determination, collaboration and a great deal of volunteer effort, the group has steadily built Crail Fest into something special.

What began as a simple celebration has grown into a lively community festival that reflects the energy, creativity and resilience of Crail itself — and with growing support from the community and local businesses, Crail Fest looks set to continue growing for years to come.
