COVID vaccine: One in seven Fifers have had their first jag

Public Health Scotland data shows 45,230 people served by NHS Fife had received their first jag by February 7.
That was up 32% from 34,165 a week earlier.
It means that 15% of people aged 16 and over in Fife have now received their first dose, using the latest Scottish population estimates.

Hide AdAcross Scotland, that number stood at 866,823by February 7 – 19% of the population.
That was an increase of 51% from 575,739 the week before.
The figures were recorded before First Minister Nicola Sturgeon revealed on February 10 that more than one million people in Scotland had received their first dose of a Covid-19 vaccine.
She described reaching the milestone as "highly significant."
She said: "When you think about the truly dreadful weather most of the country is experiencing right now, which means that many of those administering and receiving the jag will have had to brave extreme elements, I don’t think it’s an exaggeration to describe this as a heroic achievement.

Hide AdShe said the vaccination programme is “on course” to give first doses to everybody over 70 and everyone with a serious clinical vulnerability by the middle of February.
As of February 7, 472,886 people aged 70 and over had received their first jag across Scotland – covering 64% of the age group.
Public Health Scotland's vaccination rollout began on December 8, with doses given first to care home staff and residents, frontline health workers and people aged 80 and over.
