Police called to COVID vaccine centre in Kirkcaldy

NHS Fife has confirmed police were called to a COVID vaccine centre last week.

It happened at Templehall Community Centre in Kirkcaldy on Friday.

It is understood tempers had become frayed after long waits to be vaccinated.

Police confirmed they attended after some people became “unsettled” - NHS Fife said it could not give any further details.

Templehall was one of the venues hit by an IT glitch last week which saw 7000 extra appointments poured into the system.

David Torrance MSP for Kirkcaldy urged everyone to stay calm.

He said: “NHS staff are working their socks off and are going above and beyond the call of duty to get us vaccinated.

“They are doing a brilliant job trying to keep us all safe.

“I know there will be hiccups along the way but at no time should any frontline staff member be in a position where they feel the need to call the police.”
