1973: Opening day for Massey Supermarket in Kirkcaldy

editorial image

Many great names have disappeared from Kirkcaldy High Street over the years.

The recent closures have all been well documented, but a generation of Langtonians will recall the shops of the 1970s and 1960s which made the High Street the jewel in the crown as far as Fife was concerned.

This archive picture dates from 1973.

It shows the opening of Massey Supermarket in Whytescauseway.
