The Gourmet Golf Day, hosted by CLIC Sargent, will give keen golfers and foodies a chance to try some of the finest food and wine in Scotland as they tackle one of the game’s iconic courses.

Held at the five-star Fairmont St Andrews, the event will see teams play the course while stopping at select holes to enjoy food and drink from some of the area’s best breweries, restaurants and local suppliers.

The wee taste of Scotland will come from award winning local brewers and restaurants including The Seafood Restaurant, St Andrews Brewing Company, Jannetta’s Ice Cream, Eden Mill, Forgans, La Cucina, and many more.

Jane McGee, director of sales and marketing at Fairmont St Andrews, said: “This is a fantastic event that not only brings the local community together, but offers an invitation for everyone to sample the delights that local suppliers have on offer in Fife, as well as supporting a great cause.”

The golfing experience is followed by a trick shot show from golf pro Dean Davis, before a meal cooked by the 2014 Masterchef The Professionals winner Jamie Scott.

A champagne reception will offer the chance to bid for ‘money can’t buy’ auction prizes and games including a competition with the chance to win a car and a holiday to Spain.

Last year’s event raised an amazing £23,000 for CLIC Sargent, which provides financial, social, emotional and clinical support to young cancer patients and their families.

Chris McColgan, CLIC Sargent fundraising manager, told the Herald and Citizen: “This really is the tastiest charity golf day out there.

“Fife has some of the best food and drink around, as well as one of the best golf courses, so why not enjoy both at the same time?

“We are so grateful for the support of so many fantastic gourmet chefs and local traders.

“This event will help raise vital funds to support CLIC Sargent in changing what it means to be diagnosed with cancer when you’re young.”

A 4-ball team is priced at £600 giving keen golfers and foodies a top day of golf, food and entertainment and all for a hugely deserving charity.

The Fairmont Hotel will also offer those who are taking part in the gourmet gold day, a fantastic rate of £150 bed and breakfast stays for those who want to make a night of it.
