With this in mind we thought we’d look at which of Fife’s attractions are ranked highest on the popular travel website Tripadvisor – the results are occasionally surprising.

9. The Scottish Deer Centre
Covering over 55 acres of countryside, the Scottish Deer Centre gives you the chance to see 14 different species of deer, as well as wolves, otters, Scottish Wildcat and birds of prey. Steven D wrote: "If I could give this centre six stars then I would, it was that good. Lots of little activities and parks for the kids which they loved and the opportunity to see the deer, wolves and bears so close up was really good. Can’t wait for our next visit." Photo: Google Maps
10. Ravenscraig Park
Reviewers praise Ravenscraig Park, in Kirkcaldy, as being a great place for a picnic. It also offers views over Ravenscraig Castle and is the perfect starting point for a walk to Dysart Harbour. Dragongeorge wrote: "This is a great place to explore. Walk down to the shore and find two wonderful beaches with excellent views of the bay. Lots of areas to run and play. 11. Beveridge Park
A great play park, a boating pond, wood sculptures, rose gardens and woodland walks all combine to give Kirkcaldy's Victorian Beveridge Park near-universal four and five star ratings. Alan w wrote: "Great park for spending time on a nice day or just walking the dog anytime. Loads to do for kids of all ages and a nice boating lake as well." Photo: Canva
12. Kirkcaldy Galleries
Featuring an art gallery with permanent and temporary exhibitions, a library, and a museum dedicated to the history of the town, the Kirkcaldy Galleries rate highly with visitors. The collection of Scottish Colourist Samuel Peploe's paintings are a particular highlight. Ros wrote: "I come here regularly from Perth as I love this place. They have interesting and varied exhibitions which change regularly and the cafe is such a pleasant place. The staff are friendly and helpful. They've really got it right." Photo: Google Maps
